Philipp Schlattmann – „Dear Cousin“

Philipp Schlattmann, wohnte in Münster. Geboren 06.02.76, gestorben 30.11.93.

Dear Cousin

I was so glad to have you – sure you’d be a lifetime friend
But I never asked you – if you want to till my end
And if I did would it have helped me to understand why you went away
‚Cause with a sting deep in our hearts the rope allowed your soul to stray

To imagine you’d still be with us is a fine thought to me
The whole world would look much brighter
So why the hell you had to flea?
Tell me what for did you slip through life’s door?

You’re still a member of the family
You’re still in my favourite gang
You saved your time – who knows what for?
But we’ll all know in the end
And up to then I’ll have a fine time
Like you told me to do
And at the age of Queen Mum
I’ll still be thinking of you

To imagine you’d still be with us is a fine thought to me
The whole world would look much brighter
So why the hell you had to flea?
Tell me who are you talking to now?
Who shares your esprit?
How long will it take till we meet
And where will it be?

Tell me what for – I don’t care what for –
I guess you know what for
You slipped through life’s door
